QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

You must have obtained, or be about to obtain, a Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a minimum, or expected grade, of 2:1 (or equivalent).

ABOUT THE JOB:

The role would suit an Engineer or Senior Engineer who wants to develop their career further.

You will be exposed to all elements of the business from project and client management, through technical delivery, to team mentoring. Your primary focus will be on expanding Metis’ drainage design capability, especially around SuDS and flood mitigation schemes, to offer a more comprehensive public realm design service to our clients. You will take the role of supporting the civil engineering design team.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants will be graduate members of the ICE and be working towards obtaining professional qualifications, with at least 2 years’ relevant experience.

We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic engineers, with a real interest in sustainable drainage design and the skillset to thrive in a small and dynamic team.  Candidates must have:

  • Sound technical ability in engineering design principles
  • Flair for innovation and the ability to think differently

  • Competency with Microsoft Office, Autodesk Civil 3D, Microdrainage applications
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Additional skills that would be beneficial include:

  • A proven capability in drainage and SuDS design
  • Highway and/or public realm design experience
  • Drainage strategy production for developers
  • Flood risk assessment experience

You will be part of our Flood Risk Management team and involved in all elements of our offering including development / economic appraisal of flood risk mitigation schemes, sustainable drainage design, flood risk modelling and strategy development. Our clients are primarily Local Authorities, but we also have growing list of private sector clients who benefit from our extensive public sector knowledge. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

You should hold a relevant Hydrology, Engineering or Environmental degree or masters level qualification. Specialist Flood Risk / Coastal Engineering foundation degrees and similar graduates will also be considered.

Candidates may be fresh graduates or up to 2-3 years relevant experience.

  • Experience in producing flood risk assessments
  • Economic appraisal of flood risk management schemes
  • Flood risk modelling using TuFlow, Flood Modeller, InfoWorks ICM and / or XP STORM
  • GIS analysis experience in using ArcGIS and / or QGIS
  • Work experience within a Lead Local Flood Authority and / or detailed knowledge of the Flood and Water Management Act (2010)

ABOUT THE JOB:

The role would suit an Engineer with at least one years’ experience working in the highways industry, who wants to work in a fast-moving consultancy environment, progress to chartered status, and be involved in challenging projects.

As a Highways Engineer, your primary focus will be on delivering asset management and highway design projects within our Highway Management team. Our clients are generally Local Authorities who trust us to deliver projects ranging from developing and overseeing maintenance programmes through to producing business cases to support funding bids. You will be supported to work on varied projects and will be required to be innovative in your approach.

You will be given the opportunity to manage projects and liaise directly with clients. Our senior team will mentor you to achieve your professional objectives, which may include chartership and becoming a Technical Lead or Team Leader.
